This family was so much fun to photograph. Their love for each other and the silly things they did as a family was just a blast to experience. This started at the Mom Made Expo that we participated in earlier in the year. A lovely woman approached us and said she was interested in having a session done with her immediate family when they visited Hawaii in a few months. We were so excited not only because of her thoughtfulness and desire that her parents have these memories but also because they hadn't taken family pictures since their son was a baby. A BABY!!! It was time that this family was able to totally capture their personalities and the bond they shared.
However, on the day of their session, the weather was awful, stormy and rainy and ugly. But we had to photograph that day because they were only in Hawaii for a short time and the rest of their trip was full of golf tournaments. So we did an early morning change of plans from the Windward side to urban Honolulu. This worked out so well because the weather held out, it didn't rain until right after we wrapped up. Plus we got to explore the Kaka'ako murals.
So often people aren't able to find the time to photograph their family. Or they may do it a few times when the kids are really little but they stop and then never have all those in-between times as the kids change and get older. Every age deserves to be celebrated. What I admire the most about this family is that they took the time, they celebrated their love, and now they have beautiful artwork that they can enjoy every day. I am so grateful that we were able to be part of their story.
