It’s hard to believe that this handsome man is ready to head off to college. I remember when my mom first sat all of the family down, myself and my three other siblings, and told us that we were going to get another baby. I was shocked, didn’t we have enough kids already??!! What a typical, selfish 13-year-old response. I was mostly concerned about having to share my room and what another baby would mean to the current sibling pecking order. Little did I realize then, how much I would grow to love and appreciate Michael. I’ve been really lucky because I feel like I got to be around him for most of his growing up years. He was always up to go to lunch or go hiking, help with his nieces and nephews, or just be really excited to tell me about the newest book or movie that he had watched.
For his senior photography session, Michael wanted to go to the downtown, political district. He is interested in a career with the military and public service and he wanted photos that represented this new step in his life. I tried so many times to get him to smile but in the end the strongest part of Michael’s personality is strength and dedication to his future and this really comes across in these photos.
I’m really glad that we were able to create these pictures. This is such a big step in a young person’s life. They are leaving home after almost 20 years of growing up, heading off to learn new things, and really figure out what they should do with their life. It’s so exciting for the senior but it’s also a time of huge change for their family. Everybody has to adapt. Having these pictures and being able to look at them each day is such a great to celebrate this young adult’s success and their family’s achievements in helping them develop into an asset to society.
